Christmas Eve 2011

Christmas Eve was spent at my Dads house again. We had a delicious meal and then were spoiled rotten with gifts. Thank you Grandpa Rod and Grandma Sherrie for making it such a special evening!

I love this... It was so cute to see the kids lined up opening presents together. Grandma Sherrie had a plan and wanted them to open them together. It was so cute!

Olivia's big gift was a new scooter, which she adores and is always begging to go out side and ride.

Atticus knew right what to do and had lots of fun unwrapping his gifts!
Jorja got new v-reader games and Jaye received a huge box of link-n-logs. Perfect and thoughtful gifts! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!
Sherrie opening my gift to her and Daddy. I dried and arranged their flowers from their wedding. Turned out pretty good for my first time.
The kids also got new blankets... I don't think Jorja has stopped dragging it around yet. She is sleeping with it as I type.

Well loved kids! And well loved Parents!
Love you Grandma and Grandpa Marshall!
We did eventually make it home to open Christmas PJ's and put out Santa Cookies!

I can hardly believe how grown up they are! One last hug for Beaker before heading off to bed. Hopefully we see him again next year!
 Good night girls!
After Santa got here...spoil... spoiled... spoiled!  Well LOVED for sure!
All Olivia asked for was a puppy in her stocking.  It was hard to decided how to go about making her happy without getting a real puppy.  One day we will... but not yet.  But, she did get what she asked for. The cutest stuffed puppy sticking out of her stocking and a fur-real cookie dog from Mom and Dad.
Jorja tried to spoil a couple gifts this year. She heard Olivia's dog barking, so that had to be from Mom and Dad. She also saw her own sled so that had to be from Mom and Dad also. It's getting harder and harder to be Santa that's for sure!

Beaker Floppy- Feet

Once again our friendly Family Elf arrived the first week in December. He did arrive a little late due to my unpreparedness.  But,  the girls were super surprised when he did show up that I think it was better to make them wonder a couple days.  I was not as good about taking pictures this December. So, I am missing a lot of what Beaker was up to. Also, the girls got a hold of him a couple times before I could take his picture.
Beaker showed up in the rocking chair under the tree. The rocking chair is normally in front of the fire place and he showed up with the same sparkling snow like last year. Which the girls did notice!

Shortly after Beaker arrived we made our Gingerbread house.  Later on in the season he did bust into the Gingerbread house, breaking off candy and eating it.
This was a cute idea to make a tent and put Beaker in the corner, The kids had been doing this earlier in the day with their cousins. This is a regular event for this corner, the kids have basically claimed it as their own tent site.

It took the girls forever to find beaker here. Hee hee.  This was a present I was trying to finish up for my Sister-in-law and it had been out for a week. So, the kids were used to seeing it.  Beaker just blended so well here!
This is a move after a sledding accident down the stairs on our checker-board sled. Beaker was face planted at the bottom of the stairs, supper funny. The girls did not  think he was safe their.
Beaker, hiding in the Christmas animals. Mommy worked that next night and accidentally forgot to move him when I came home from work. He just REALLY liked hanging out with his friends!

This was a creative idea from Josh. I love it! He knocked over Grandma Launi's baskets and hid in the pot above the stove.

This one the kids thought was "MAGIC"! These are the items that needed fixed.  Jorja's new pillow had hole, my old pink bear needed some attention and Hippy has lost a leg. I have been meaning to fix them for a long while now.  Jorja is constantly making beds out of her blankets on the floor in the front room. To have all the animals fixed and in a bed like she does was fun for her.

Beaker was in a stocking one night, face planted in a present "peeking" another night, He was hanging in the big wreath in the big room the last night. The girls found him face planted in the window looking for them when they had spent the nights at Grandma Gingers.  Beaker helps them really get into Christmas. They wrote Santa a letter and Beaker delivered it the first week he was here.  He is a great reminder to help the kids keep on task.  I am so glad I started this. The kids adore Beaker!   Olivia is just on the verge of not believing anymore. This really could be our last year with her "believing" and I glad that Beaker Floppy-Feet our Family Elf was well established before she doesn't believe anymore.

Here are the girls leaving Beaker with Santa's cookies on Christmas Eve. Santa left a letter for the girls in response to their previous one to find Christmas morning.  It  can be a lot of work to remember to move Beaker and find a new thing for him to be doing, but I LOVE this family tradition!

December 2011

The first day in December brought a violent wind storm to Davis County.   I drove home from work in the middle of it. It took me an hour and fifteen minutes to get home in the scariest drive of my life. I watched the freeway get backed up worse as another semitrailer blew over. I was dodging trees falling and power lines sparking. It was just one thing after another coming at you. The drive was even worse than flipping backwards on the freeway in the snow storm last winter.  We were lucky and only braved some minimal damage like the back fence and a shutter on the house with some siding damage. There was some damage to the roof, but not comparable to some.  I promptly walked in the house and turned Olivia's alarm off telling her she wasn't going to schoo. I kept Olivia home from school and was outraged after being in the storm that the District dropped the ball that morning letting Children go out in that mess and then releasing them again into it when the schools did close.  I couldn't believe parents would let their kids out of the house! Seriously some common sense went out the window that morning!

This is the yard of a friends house, Josh had been working on this house the month of November and December. It was sad to see that he had three big pines down.
We were without power for roughly twenty hours.  We were very lucky to have a generator handy to cook some warm meals and keep the fridges running. The gas stoves also provided us with some much appreciated warmth. We were very lucky compared to some it got pretty darn cold that night.
Josh finished painting that garage just the day before the storm.
Ginger Mom hurt her finger trying to save the cat run from flying down the street and hurting someone else. She lost a lovely flowering pear tree in her front yard just before getting injured.  She was very lucky that was all that got hurt being out in the hundred mph winds.
We went to eat at Dee's the day after the storm. After our power had been returned. When we pulled in the parking lot was full of utility vehicles. We decided to still go in and eat. When we walked in the whole left side was filled with utility line-men. Men I know who were out working in that storm even at six am when I was driving home from work.   It was very humbling. They had all been working so hard to return power and I was so grateful to have power. You just felt like clapping or something!  But, they probably deserved a warm meal more than anything.  I just want to express my gratitude to all the people who helped us get power back.  Thank You for all you did!

This puts it into perspective of how big these trees were. There were trees down and debris everywhere.  I'm proud to live in such an amazing community. Everyone rallied to help each other. Josh cut down probably twenty or more trees in that one weekend.  He was not complaining being able to use his chainsaw, he adores that thing.  You can still see signs of the big storm if you are looking, but for the most part people had the big things cleaned up by that weekend. It's amazing what you can accomplish together.

This was a fun family night out. Uncle Colin is on Weber States Hockey Team and we were able to finally see him play! Olivia was just asking the week before when we would be able to see Colin play hockey again. Good Game Wildcats!

This officially kicks of Christmas for me! Thanks Ginger Mom for an AMAZING night out! Kurt Bestor does a wonderful show and I love this family tradition.  Once again Kurt did a smashing job and we can't wait till next year!

For girl scouts we had a big Un-Birthday party to celebrate all the girls Birthdays. We had a fun tea-party and I am so proud of the girls for being on their best behavior!

The Eugster Christmas Party was in Evenston this year. Thanks to everyone who helped put it together this year. It was loads of fun and always good to see everyone!
This is us sitting in a circle to pass white elephant gifts. Which is always fun and silly!

While my mom was in Portland visiting my big brother Matras. Blake and I cleaned out the garage and parked moms car in the garage for the first time in almost a year. It truly was team work with the kids, the spouses collaborating and Blake and I rearranging time to do it. It took us almost the whole week she was gone to finish the little things and give her an early Christmas present.   We had to organize the shed to do it and didn't throw anything of hers away. So... lot and lots of organizing. I am very proud of us for our hard work. Even if we shared being sick between the kids!

Brandy Turned 30!   We caught up with her the Monday after her Birthday at her moms house for dinner and cake! Thanks to everyone for making it together to Celebrate Brandy! I know it was low-key... but not a bad way at all to help ring in 30! Love you all!
