OH CRAP!

hit the ground each morning, the devil says,

Our Happy Fathers Day

We had a great day spent with the Fathers in our lives. We went to dinner with My Daddy, Blake and family at McGrath's at the Gateway. Jorja developed strep throat over the weekend and Josh spent the morning home with her while Liv and I picked up my Daddy to attend a blessing for the newest addition to the Marshall side of the family miss Kiya. She was absolutely gorgeous in the blessing dress that my Aunt Karen(her grandma) made for her. It was great fun to spend some time with them after the blessing. I think my wedding was the last time I have seen most of my family on the Marshall side. Plus, it was great to spend the day with my Daddy. We caught up with the rest of the family after and spent a good evening together. I hope that all the wonderful fathers that have touched our lives had a great day! There is nothing like a father... much love to you all.

Home and back at the Salt Mines

Josh and I had a great weekend visiting Portland, OR. We left about one in the afternoon on Friday and drove straight through. Well... Josh did the driving. I did the napping. I stayed awake after working all night and I was a mess by the time we got into the car. It was a good thing for Josh and I to spend so much alone time together. We needed it badly. It rained and stormed most of our drive through Oregon.

We did get to enjoy a beautiful sunset headed out in between all the rain.
We arrived just after midnight at our hotel. Once settled in and showered for the night, morning came way too soon. We met my brother Matras for breakfast at this great little place called the Radio Room by his house. It was so yummy we went back for seconds on Sunday before heading out of town. It was so wonderful to catch up with Matras. He only moved to Portland a few weeks back and he seems happier all ready. It was nice to see him settled in a bit and finally meet his best friend(whom he is staying with) after all these years. We left from visiting Matras straight to the wedding Ceremony. It was held in a beautiful old building with this great big chapel in it. The Ceremony was a big to do and I am still amazed at all the things they did for it.

It was lovely and the happy couple looked amazing! The newlyweds left the Ceremony in a horse drawn carriage, it was very fairytale like.

After the ceremony we migrated to the Columbia River and boarded the Portland Spirits. The very large boat took us cruising down the Columbia and up the channel through downtown Portland.

It was an amazing experience that I will not soon forget. Becky and Jason had a wonderful wedding day and I'm so happy that we could be apart of it. Everything was absolutely perfect and it was an honor to be part of such an amazing day. It was great fun for me to finally meet all these amazing people I have been hearing about for so long. Josh has some good friends.
Of course my camera died before getting too many pictures of the big day. I did get a lovely shot of the Coast Guard escorting us past the Rose Festival down the river. It was pretty fantastic to have them do that. Nothing like looking out the window to see a guy in uniform with a machine gun!

We got back to the Hotel late Saturday night. We didn't get off the boat till almost nine pm. So we went back to the hotel and vegged out. I did send Josh for a midnight run to Taco Bell, he got lost coming back and I fell asleep.

Sunday we got out of town as soon as possible. We decided to make a few stops on the way home. My favorite was Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. It was an amazing sight and I am so glad we stopped. I had to buy a disposable camera to get pictures, so as soon as I get them developed I will post them. We also stopped in a little town Cascade Locks where my Mother-in-law lived for a few years as a child. It was a beautiful little town. Of course we also stopped for ice cream at the same place we stopped on Friday on our way out, Dairy Queen in Baker, OR. They do ice cream pretty well... their food is horrible! Josh is a blizzard addict.
Another little highlight of our trip that I am proud of is that Josh listened to not only one but TWO books on CD while we drove. My husband does not read and I am so happy that he enjoyed my suggestion. So much so that he insisted we stop and buy a second book on our way home. Josh is very proud of the fact that his two three dollar lottery tickets payed for the second book on CD. We won 15 dollars.

It was a great weekend even though we spent so much of it in the car driving. I look forward to making it back to Oregon again soon. It was beautiful. Hopefully we transplanting there one day. We talked about it a lot while driving through the little towns along the way. I think we would enjoy living in Oregon. Just gotta drag my favorite peoples with me.

I was happy to be home and finally catch up with the girls Monday morning at my Moms house. It was great to have some adult time but I sure missed those little girls.

So, that is our weekend in a nut shell. Will post pictures later. I have to go get ready for work now. I have loads to catch up on and hope to get that done soon.

Thought for the Day.

The ship of my life may or may not be sailing on calm and amiable seas. The challenging days of my existence may or may not be bright and promising. Stormy or sunny days, glorious or lonely nights, I maintain an attitude of gratitude. If I insist on being pessimistic, there is always a tomorrow. Today I am blessed.

Overwhelmed

Life has been a bit overwhelming for me lately. So many directions since we got back from California. I have so much to write about and no motivation to do so. Sorry peeps. Lots of ups and downs. Josh and I are headed to Portland tomorrow for a friends wedding. It will be an interesting weekend I am sure. We are desperate for some needed alone time. Hope to come home feeling better and promise to spend some time blogging and updating on all the stuff we have been up to. Till then... have a fantastic weekend!
